A Matter of Cake

Hi, I’m Tonya! I am a self-taught home-based cake baker and decorator. I want to bring a smile to your face whether it be from a made from scratch pound cake or a 3-tier special occasion cake.  I put my heart and butter into bringing to life delicious cakes, while also creating a work of art that will cause you to debate whether to cut and eat the cake or, display it for photos (lol).  My goal as a home based baker is to exceed your expectations by staying abreast of current trends through research, attendance at industry seminars and training workshops.  

I love making people smile with baked goods! I became interested in learning to bake around the age of 11 by watching and learning from my grandmothers, Lillian (mom’s mother), Avonia (Dad’s mother) and Mary (Dad's grandmother). Great-grandma Mary was skilled at cooking and baking using a wood stove, so it was interesting learning how to put the right amount of wood in the stove to keep the temperature just right.
